2019 Kitchen Trend: Range Hoods as a Focal Point

As a remodeling company based in Lakeville, MN, we love providing our clients with the latest trends. We’ve spent the year highlighting some of our favorite 2019 trends (Note: insert links to previous blogs) but we’re nowhere near done! This month, we’re exploring another trend which, we have to confess, is one of our favorites.  Years ago, range hoods were all about function or simply not considered at all, but today’s range hoods are a focal point.  It doesn’t matter if your taste veers toward modern or traditional, it’s easy to take the disguise off of your range hood and give it the ‘wow’ factor your kitchen deserves!

Whether you’re looking for ideas for a complete kitchen remodel or a simple way to update your kitchen, we hope to inspire you with some of the latest trends in kitchen range hoods!

Simple and Sleek

Range hoods that are simple and sleek are perfect for homeowners looking for a stress-free, streamlined look and feel.  Finishes that bring a clean and sophisticated design include polished metal, stainless steel, and tempered glass hoods.  For a bright and spacious vibe, take the marble, granite, or tile from your backsplash and bring it all the way to the ceiling as they did with the subway tile below.

Artfully Unique

Inject some personality into your kitchen with an unexpectedly unique range hood.  Whether it’s metal, full metal cladding or metal accents, these finishes can make a major impact.  Metal, copper, and powder-coated white steel can look great in a modern kitchen and also beautifully compliment many of today’s “natural wood” kitchens.  For a more rustic look, consider hammered steel versus polished metal.  You’ll be amazed at the stunning visual interest custom range hoods can provide.

A Traditional Twist

Most traditional kitchens have range hoods made from the wood that matches the adjacent cabinetry or a low profile metal hood.  You can add personality while maintaining a traditional style by using a contrasting wood such as shiplap or pick up the current two-tone color scheme trend.  A natural stone finish, also very traditional, offers texture and depth to almost any style kitchen.  Plaster is a traditional look that can be modernized by mixing it with a color that plays off of your cabinetry color.

Experience the Color

Make a luxurious statement with a custom colored range hood.  With endless color options to choose from, it’s easy to personalize it to your aesthetic.  One idea is to match your hood to the oven, an impactful way to make a bold and cohesive statement.
