Feather & Stone Kitchen Remodel

Prior Lake, MN  |  2023

A dramatic change despite no structural changes,

this new space feels lighter, open and more functional.

The kitchen in this Prior Lake home, built in the early 2000s, was adequate, but a poorly designed island paired with dark countertops and a dated backsplash meant it was time for a refresh.

To save on cost, our new design stays within the same footprint of the existing kitchen floorplan and all appliance locations remain as is. But the similarities end there. New cabinetry, finished in Benjamin Moore’s Feather Down, extends up to the 9’ ceilings and out to the sliding glass patio door, delivering the storage our clients desired.  The new island with a larger base is packed with functionality. A brown-grey stained poplar on the island adds welcome depth to the design, with a large overhang along the two exterior-facing sides to provide unobtrusive breakfast seating.

Classic white quartz countertops with light grey veining complement a grey subway tile backsplash throughout the kitchen are extended to the beverage station. Champagne bronze hardware, a new stainless-steel sink and appliances, and new lighting complete the transformation.

Altogether, the new space feels lighter, open and more functional. A success on all counts!
