Palais Bathroom Remodel

Owatonna, MN  |  2024

On our homeowner’s wish list was more privacy, a bigger shower, and a soaking tub.

Reimagining the floorplan of this bathroom was like the transition of a caterpillar to a butterfly, revealing the potential lying dormant there all along.

The biggest change was swapping the toilet and shower locations. What was the shower space, became the toilet closet with a sliding pocket door, offering much sought-after privacy.  Where the toilet once stood, the shower now resides, the lower windows on the exterior wall replaced with awning transom windows.

A new zero-barrier shower features striking tile selections. Nearby, the soaking tub and matching floor-mounted tub filler sit diagonally, allowing access to both shower space and tub.

The existing vanity and vanity tower, in good condition, stayed put, refinished with Sherwin Williams Dried Thyme, a soothing sophisticated green that beautifully accents the neutral tones found elsewhere.  Replacing the tower cabinet doors with textured chord glass doors, new quartz countertops, and striking champagne bronze framed mirrors, faucets, and hardware complete the transformation. The result is a reimagined space where privacy, sophistication and relaxation reign.
